Trinity School for Ministry is unique in that it shapes Christian leaders through its commitment to Biblical Theology and mission, to historical and global Anglicanism, and to biblical, authentic community. The Center for Distance Learning seeks to bring this ethos within reach of those who are unable to relocate to our Ambridge campus. Through TrinityOnline and our Extension Site, we offer more than just the opportunity for graduate credit study – we offer the opportunity to join with a community of disciples who by God's grace are engaging Paul's challenge "to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ," as we speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
Online Courses
TrinityOnline offers a range of Trinity's foundational and upper division courses on a rotating basis each fall and spring. The courses mirror the residential courses: semester-long classes, weekly reading and assignments, regular interaction with faculty and class members, and at least 8 - 12 hours of study, per week, per course. The coursework is largely asynchronous, meaning students in the class are not required to be online at the same time. Using the asynchronous discussion boards signifi cantly contributes to the learning and the development of a community. Participation in these discussions, combined with the other assignments, demands an extensive amount of reading and writing.
The Diploma in Anglican Studies and the Diploma in Christian Ministry are both available entirely online. Students can also augment their coursework through online study.
Trinity Partnership with the Rio Grande School for Ministry
Trinity and the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande cooperate to provide study toward a Diploma in Christian Ministry. The program at the Rio Grande School for Ministry is designed for students preparing for ordained ministry in the diocese, and the courses are transferable into a future Master's degree program. Each course is an effective blend of online learning that culminates in face-to-face weekend intensives at a retreat center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The Dean of the Rio Grande School for Ministry provides administrative oversight of the onsite running of the school and oversees the spiritual formation of the students. Please contact the Geoff Mackey at gmackey@tsm.edu for further details.
